Shoulder Arthroscopy
The shoulder is a ball and socket joint formed by the head of the humerus and the cup-like structure of the shoulder blade called the glenoid. The joint is stabilized by the rotator cuff muscles, numerous ligaments, and the labrum (the cartilage lining the glenoid). Injuries may occur due to wear and tear or from an acute trauma. Shoulder arthroscopy involves creating several small incisions around the shoulder and inserting a small camera and specialized instruments to repair various structures.
